The Benilde-St. Margaret’s Red Knights traveled south to Graham Arena in Rochester on Saturday, January 26th to face the Rochester Lourdes Eagles. Coming off a lopsided victory over Elk River/Zimmerman, the Red Knights seemed to come into the game a bit overconfident, but eventually grinded out a 6-1 win on the road.
Senior Paul Lundberg got his second start of the season, and kept the score tied at 0 after a busy first period in net. Grant Besse scored two quick goals to gain the lead early in the second period, but Lourdes got within one goal when Eagles forward Ben Weir scored against Lundberg just under five minutes into the period.
The Red Knights would respond, scoring four straight goals, including the first on the season by juniors Zack Hale and Johnny Austin, and sophomore Jack Lawton. “It was nice to finally score a goal. It’s definitely a confidence-builder as we get late into the season,” Hale said.
