I have almost been run over twice––both times by parents in the BSM parking lot gabbing away on their phones. Everyone tells teenagers to not text or talk on their cellphones, but adults must hear this message as well. Just as many adults as teenagers become distracted while talking on the phone or texting. Reality check: the rules apply to them too.

This is “right on” with the exception that I believe more parents than students are guilty of this because alot of the students listen to others telling them not to.
As a traffic officer I’ve noticed that most of the people who are out of focus during the traffic stop are on their phones and in a lot of cases are holding coffee as well which of course stops them from using their turn signals and deffinitely takes away the focus on safety!
I have come to the point, where taking on the responsibility of trying to keep the students safe “during traffic” and trying to keep “our traffic stop” accident free, is becoming very difficult and their may come a time when no one will be willing to do traffic.
