The girls’ basketball team proved why they’re ranked number two in the state with a win against crosstown rival Orono on December 1. The Red Knights defeated the Spartans 49-43, with Khadijah Shumpert scoring 25 points and grabbing 19 rebounds, showing why she is a Minnesota Miss Basketball hopeful. With her great performance, she is only 3 points away from achieving 1,000 points in her high school basketball career. Though the team won the game, they lost Liz Nicholson for an extended period of time due to a broken collarbone suffered in the game. The girls look to bounce back in their next game against Eden Prairie, ranked number two in class AAAA, on December 3rd at Hopkins
