With a loss of many seniors this past year, the knowledge bowl team enters this season with a re-building year approach. “The returning juniors are good,” said Mr. Tom Backen, the new coach, but the team had groomed the graduated seniors for three to four years, so this puts the team at a loss. Mr. Backen, who was the assistant for the last three years, now is leading this team.

Most extracurricular activities don’t involve tournaments where participants “are asked a variety of obscure questions on a variety of subjects,” said Mr. Backen, but knowledge bowl does. The team is still looking to add on and are open to new members. “We only meet Tuesdays and Thursday for one hour, so it is pretty easy,” said Mr. Backen.
