This year, four Benilde-St. Margaret’s soccer players were given the distinguished title of All-State. On the boy’s soccer team senior Jake Sherman received the award after an impressive season with 10 goals and three assists. “It was a great honor and I was very happy to receive the award,” said Sherman.
On the girls’ team, senior Dana Buckhorn, senior Anne Arnason, and junior Kelly Pannek were awarded with the honor of All-State. Arnason led a back line that only allowed four goals all regular season. “It’s a really big honor, because there are so many good players in Class A,” Arnason said.
Buckhorn ended up fifteenth in the state for scoring with 21 goals during the regular season. “There were a lot of people on the team that could have and should have gotten it, and I feel really lucky,” Buckhorn said. Pannek finish the season close behind her with 19 goals and 16 assists. “Couldn’t do it without Dana and the rest of the team. They make me look good,” Pannek said .
Senior Jason Kosch from the boys’ team along with senior Annie Michels from the girls’ team received All-State Honorable mention awards.
