Lululemon is a popular brand mostly amongst teenagers and young adults. Lululemon consists of athletic wear, but they also have sweats and more comfort-based clothing. A new clothing brand has been emerging recently and seems to be taking over the world and replacing the iconic Lululemon. Alo has been becoming very popular amongst Lululemon fans, the question is, are people ditching their love of Lululemon for Alo?
After interviewing many students, there is a common trend in responses. Most believe that Lululemon is the original, and it won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Sophomore Charlotte Stegner, a Lululemon lover at Benilde-St. Margaret’s states her personal preferences about it. “Even though Lulu is pretty expensive, it’s high quality, and all of the stuff I have I can workout in, and it still isn’t damaged or anything,” Stegner said.
Lululemon is a fan favorite, but at the same time, new and exciting brands can quickly draw people’s attention away from the old. Although many students agree that Lululemon will always be popular, there are a few people who like Alo and say they are already starting to shift away from Lululemon. “I’ve bought more clothing from Lululemon… in the future, I would buy more from Alo…I feel like there are similar price points, but I just like their clothes better. I hate Lululemon-aligned fabric leggings…I hate the fabric. So I like Alo…it is better,” sophomore Audrey Broglio said.
Based on many responses, a lot of buyers are very concerned about the prices that Alo carries on their clothing, and they think that would be the reason that would stop them from buying it. Certain brands are intriguing because of their high prices, but when they reach a certain point, customers don’t want to spend too much money on products that they could buy for lower prices at stores they are already comfortable and familiar with. “I just feel like it’s a more expensive alternative for shopping that we already have.” sophomore Sydney Peterson said.
Lululemon has already been around for years and has worked for the popularity it has gained. Customers all over the world rave about their high-quality material and durability. While Alo has gained some popularity, Lululemon will always be the go-to for athletic wear. As for now, it seems most people will not be converting their wardrobe from Lululemon to Alo. Customers are hesitant to shop somewhere new when they already have an option that works for them. “I think I would probably go to Lululemon because I know it better. I’ve shopped there more, and I already have products from there, so I know it’s good quality,” sophomore Grace Grandstand said.
