Snowfalls, festive drinks, and holiday cheer often accompany the winter season and excite students for the next few winter months. Winter activities fill students’ bucket lists as the temperatures drop, and every student’s list looks slightly different.
Sophomore Audrey Wolff favors staying warm and cozy inside during the winter months as opposed to spending time out in the cold. Wolff’s bucket list items this year mainly adhere to that opinion; she has multiple indoor activities that she desires to participate in this year: baking, watching holiday movies, drinking hot chocolate, going shopping, participating in secret santa, and competing in white elephant. However, while most of the items on her bucket list are located indoors, some activities that she enjoys break the pattern. “I really like staying inside during winter…[however], I want to…make a snowman and snowball fight. That’s fun,” Wolff said.
On freshman Ellen Bunkers’ bucket list this year, she put snow tubing, sledding, baking, and participating in secret santa. Bunkers eagerly awaits the holiday season, which remains the most important part of her winter. “Yeah, it’s a good holiday, and I’m excited to do Christmas,” Bunkers said.
Many students’ bucket list activities revolve around spending time with friends and family. This speaks to be true for sophomore Kiya Rognrud and freshman Zane Lester. Rognrud discovered that she enjoys shopping in winter because it allows her to hang out and spend quality time with her friends. Similarly, Lester has found that tubing allows him the opportunity to spend precious time with those he cares about during the holidays. “For tubing, you’re outside with friends, having fun,” Lester said.
The snowy winter season invites students to participate in all sorts of activities that many seem to enjoy. Though everyone’s list varies, the majority of students agreed upon multiple activities as must-haves on their bucket lists: baking, watching holiday movies, sledding, and walking in the snow. One popular activity revealed itself as most important to the student body: drinking hot chocolate. 93.5% of students surveyed agreed that drinking hot chocolate was a must-have on their bucket lists this snowy season.
