Fall is a period of time filled with golden leaves, chilly weather, and pumpkin spice. While the ideal fall day for BSM students may vary, it contains many overlapping components, such as weather, food, and activities.
Statistics show that many students’ perfect autumn day would begin with them waking later than usual, spending the morning outside enjoying a light breeze and the view of warm-toned, crunchy autumn leaves. They would bask in fifty to sixty degree weather with a pumpkin-flavored Starbucks drink in hand. Many would enjoy a distinctively fall breakfast. “Being able to sleep in and waking up to chilly weather where the leaves are blowing in the wind and possibly eating like a pumpkin themed breakfast, like pumpkin waffles, or something [would make the morning ideal],” sophomore Emma Cella said.
Freshman Charlie Scott found that weather can easily influence the quality of his day. He enjoys a day with a little wind and cool air. The sun can help craft his ideal fall weather. “If there’s the sun on leaves, sometimes the sun can look more like golden [and] everything lights up. It’s pretty cool,” Scott said.
The middle of the day must involve some key characteristics in order to create a flawless autumn day for BSM students, such as spending time with friends and fall activities. Many students agreed that going to a pumpkin patch, going shopping for fall decorations, and making leaf piles to jump in are all significant components in improving a fall day. Furthermore, the essential activity for an ideal fall day was agreed upon by 78.7% of students surveyed: baking fall treats. Students found that food has an important role in improving the day’s atmosphere. “You definitely [need] to throw in some pie. Pie is very fall-y,” Scott said.
Eventually, the day must come to an end, and most students want to end the day with delicious food and movies. Most students surveyed found that the superb end to an autumn day would be settling in to watch either a horror or a comfort movie. However, they concurred that the afternoon and night would not be complete without a delectable meal. “I always want something warm when it’s fall, like maybe pasta,” sophomore Olivia Shiek said.
However, while numerous students fill their day with fall activities and autumn foods, some students are not interested in getting into the autumn spirit. Some students would rather spend their day simply doing what they enjoy. “Ideally, you know, hanging out with friends and then basketball and sports stuff,” Scott said.
