The climate varies worldwide: some places are warm all year round, while others are cold. Some people have Christmas in winter while others have it in summer. My entire life, I have felt bad for people who do not experience all four seasons. I look at my family in California or my grandparents who live in Arizona and think, “It is just so sad that they don’t get to experience the brisk, chilly weather that comes with the fallen leaves during the fall season or snow during the holiday season.” Little did I know, this nightmare would soon become my reality without moving from where I live in the Midwest. This year’s fall weather is simply too warm—it is an abomination, and not the snowman variety.
I love fall. One of my favorite things about the season is going to pumpkin patches and apple orchards. I have visited these places since I was little, and try to go every year. This year, something was different as the sun was shining and it was 70 degrees outside. Some may think this is good because cold is “uncomfortable”, but I was uncomfortable in the heat. I was sweating and dying of thirst when I should have been chilly. My experience would have been one thousand times better if I had been craving hot apple cider instead of chugging a gallon of water because I was so parched from the fall heat. There is a time for sunshine and warm weather and now simply isn’t it.
Fall is a time when fashion shines. Fall fashion includes sweaters, jeans, Ugg boots, and much more. The most important element is that fall fashion consists of warm clothes. Fall fashion cannot be taken advantage of if it is 80 degrees in October, as most people do not want to perish from heat stroke just because they want to look cute. Personally, though, I’m willing to take that risk for the sake of my sweater collection. The sweaters want to be worn and so I have rocked thick wool every day since I deemed it fall, even if it’s way over 100 degrees.
Warm fall weather is ridiculous and a crime to fun activities and cute clothes. My days become exponentially worse when I wake up on a school day, check the weather, and realize that I will be sweating like crazy all day and not experiencing the fun of the best season of the year. Climate change will be the end of me (hopefully not literally).
