Fall shopping deals kick off the 2024-2025 school year, offering new trends throughout the Red Knight hallways. Students across the senior high have been exploring popular department stores such as Target, Macy’s, and Ragstock, all of which embrace the thrill of shopping.
Throughout the BSM community, many students are greatly influenced by their peers. “If I haven’t ever heard of a store before and my friends are talking about it, then I’ll check it out,” sophomore Kiya Rognrud said.
After accounting for this specific shopping factor, statistics showed that about half of the BSM students displayed a large amount of favor for the athleisure store, Lululemon. Not only does Lululemon offer exceptional clothing material and a comfy outfit guaranteed, but options are individualized to one style. “I especially like the Lululemon leggings; they fit for everyday wear. Especially at school because they’re comfortable,” sophomore Hannah Chang said.
Another popular store noted throughout the BSM senior high is Target. In fact, about 70% of Red Knights favor Target over all other department stores. Not only does Target grant students easy access to purchase basics, but Target also gives students a variety of clothing options at a reasonable price. On top of that, shopping at Target may give students an even more entertaining experience on the inside. “I like going to Target because I feel like it’s fun to go with my friends and then I get Starbucks too, so it’s fun,” Rognrud said.
Because of the great offers and fun experiences granted in many stores similar to Target and Lululemon, about 65% of BSM students would prefer in-store shopping as opposed to online shopping. Students enjoy the ability to interact with each product before ultimately making a purchase. “[I prefer] In-store shopping, so you can try things on, see the way it fits,” sophomore Maddy Wacek said.
Although shopping trends come and go, popular shopping choices have been apparent in the BSM community for decades. Theology teacher, Andretta Hanson, explains that iconic brands such as the Nike footwear company have made a dramatic comeback into the hallways of Benilde-St. Margaret’s. “The Air Force ones, because I think those are probably a forever trade,” Hanson said.
After examining the new shopping trends at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, it’s clear that the majority of the students prefer in-close contact and gravitate towards more affordable stores. As the school year continues, Red Knights have been (and will continue to be) on the search for new and exciting shopping experiences.
