As many know by now, we as a school celebrated Benilde-St. Margaret’s 50th anniversary this year. Our school year was filled with a bundle of attributes and events centered around the celebration of BSM’s 50th year. Described as “The Golden Year”, the 2023-2024 school year took time to remember each and every aspect of BSM from the 1974 graduating class, all the way to the current class of 2024 who will attend their graduation ceremony this coming Friday.
To kick off the school year, hundreds of alumni, staff members, and families gathered on campus in late August to begin the celebration process. Looking through BSM memorabilia, walking the hallways, along with enjoying live music and Taher goodies, the attendees were able to reminisce about their time at BSM and join current families in festivities. Current President Danielle Hermanny united the participants together in toast; honoring the past of BSM and all who came before us, as well as the present and future generations to come.
The annual BSM gala returned this year with the title “A Golden Knight” gala. Raising an astonishing $364,420 for BSM programs, the BSM gala this school year truly made its mark as it both provided great funding for the school as well as honoring the 50th year. Full of golden balloons, streamers, and decor, the gala was decorated from top to bottom, really embarking on this year’s theme: a golden year.
The school yearbook is a classic fan favorite to receive towards the end of the school year for students and staff to look back on the tremendous school year. This year’s book titles “Our Golden Year,” reflected both the past and present of Benilde-St. Margaret’s. The yearbook committee began on the very first page honoring each and every single graduating class with a photo of their graduates. As you flip through the pages, hints of the golden year are woven throughout the yearbook, making it a fantastic representation of this year’s theme.
To top it off, this year was filled with athletic successes as well, earning BSM athletes gold medals in their sport. The girls basketball team, girls soccer team, and the dance team all pushed their way to state championship titles, adding another element of gold to our school year.
“The Golden Year” theme was represented in numerous ways, allowing for the student body to feel united as one, while remembering all that have come before them.
