Over the years, there have been countless hair trends that have taken the world by storm. Ranging from bows to claw clips, there are so many things that Gen Z has deemed trendy for hair styles. But specifically at BSM, what hair trends are popular amongst students, and what trends are less popular?
Bows have recently skyrocketed in popularity among teenage girls. From putting them on decor, clothes, shoes, and in your hair, bows have become incredibly popular. Whether it’s half up half down, in braids, or ponytails, clipping your hair together with a bow is something that has become more and more prominent in hair fashion. Seen all over social media, bows have quickly become a cute fashion accessory that’s very well-liked in terms of hairstyles. “I like putting bows in my hair whether it’s for school or for going out to dinner. They make me look put together but it’s such an easy accessory to clip onto your hair,” sophomore Jocelyn Hawkinson said.
Another trend that has become popular is slick back hair styles, depending on if it’s in a bun or a ponytail, slick backs have been seen more and more not only within the BSM hallways but on social media as well. Slick back hairstyles are where you push your hair back, usually with gel or oil and then styling it however you want. Slick backs have become incorporated into the popular ‘clean girl’ look which has also become more desired for aesthetics. “I love doing slick backs especially for sports and school because it’s so easy and cute, it holds my hair almost all day which is so nice because I never have time to redo my hair throughout the day,” sophomore Sammy Gearen said.
The last hair trend people have started to dabble in is the classic blowout, over the past few years the Dyson Airwrap has taken social media in a chokehold. Influencers all over the world have been promoting this $600 hair drying tool along with different accessories to style your hair. Flat, straight hair has become less and less seen throughout the years and big, blowed out hair is becoming the new ‘it’ hair style of 2024. “I love blowing out my hair before school if I have time and especially before important events, it makes my hair look so elegant but it honestly doesn’t take that long to do once you know how to do it,” junior Addy Herder said.
