I slam my APUSH book closed after finishing approximately 2 out of the 15 pages that are due. I then cleared my calculator with the five hours of work I spent on one math problem. My brain cannot handle that much thought at 12 am. I then proceed to slip on my silk pink sleeping eye mask just after my elaborate 20-step skincare routine and only 30 minutes of time on my phone. I am ready for bed at an early 12:30 am.
It seems that as soon as I lay my head down to sleep the wonderful “Radar” alarm sound goes off on my phone. I have 5 long minutes of TikTok time before I start my day. Rolling out of bed at 6:45 am I am incredibly eager to start my day. I get out of bed and go to the bathroom where I am greeted with the glowing complexion of the burnt-out junior look along with the 6 hours of sleep. I ran to put on my try-hard outfit of the day, sweatpants from Shein and a White Fox hoodie. Super unique, if you ask me. I spend a total of 2 minutes putting on a full face of makeup, which is approximately 4 swipes of mascara, 2 for each eye. I then make my way back to my room where I am greeted with my long-lost best friend, my bed. As I fight the urge to make my bed I remember the time-crunch to get to school where I will spend the best 6 hours of my day. I hurry and spray my Sol de Janeiro 68 perfume and head downstairs.
As I throw my 20-pound backpack into my White Jeep Wrangler, in a whopping -5 degrees, I am ready to make the 25-minute road trip to school. I turn on my favorite pump-up playlist which consists of Phoebe Bridgers, Noah Kahan, and Gracie Abrams. My beloved Jeep is able to get warm about halfway through the drive. I pull into the Beth El parking lot at approximately 7:25 and claim my usual spot, right next to the light post, and park for 15 minutes before it is time for every junior’s favorite part of the day, the walk to school (if you know, you know).
After I get into the school I am ready for my 8-period day full of classes, free periods are for the weak. I quickly move from the English hallway, all the way up to the North Building in a 5-minute walk/run, no tardies can be afforded this junior year. With little pressure put on by everyone around with it being junior year I can move through the semester with ease, just ignore the dark circles forming under my eyes. After 6 tests throughout the day, I begin my journey back to the Jeep and prepare to easily navigate the parking lot with all of the parents who want a “quick” way out of pick-up.
I enter back into my house, say hi to the dogs, then swiftly move back up to my room and prepare for the exciting night ahead of me including another 2 pages of APUSH notes, a chemistry worksheet, and an English paper all due the following day, along with the 100 pages of notes that I have been procrastinating doing for the past week. With a quick break for dinner and a mental breakdown, I go back to the grind, then finish off the day with a quick binge of all 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls.
