Which Do Students Prefer: Athleta or Lululemon?
Athleta and Lululemon have very similar styles of clothing, but which do students like better?
At Benilde- St. Margaret’s there is no doubt that there are popular clothing brands. Some of the most popular among the girls are Lululemon and Athleta. They offer athleisure wear and provide similar items and clothing styles, but which one is overall better?
Some students enjoy Lululemon over Athleta. They feel that you get what you pay for. “Even though Lululemon is a little bit more expensive, I think the quality’s a little better. They have a lot of softer material on some of the clothing. I really enjoy the colors that they provide and they are always coming out with new ones,” freshman Grace Bendickson said.
Other students like Athleta for the overall selection they have. However, this doesn’t mean they dislike items from Lululemon. “Overall I prefer Athleta because I love their pants first of all, and I also think they have a better selection and just more to choose from. But if I were to pick a sweatshirt I would rather have Lululemon because they just look better and they feel more comfortable,” sophomore Brooklyn Riley said.

Lululemon has many popular items among students. They feel that the overall quality is better and there are a lot of options for nice clothing items. “I like their leggings, Scuba jackets, and shorts because they’re all such good quality and comfy and last a long time. It’s very durable,” sophomore Lulu Rusinski said.
Some prefer Athleta because they feel there is a wider selection to choose from. “They are both overpriced but Lululemon doesn’t have as big of a selection, it’s very limited, there are maybe two types of joggers that people usually get and a pair of leggings, there’s nothing to choose from,” Riley said.
There is a trend of a popular clothing item in both companies and that is their joggers. Students find that the way the joggers feel is perfect for them. “I have a pair of joggers I really love. I think [Athleta joggers] just fit me really well,” Riley said.
Athleta and Lululemon differ in colors and patterns. What draws many people to Lululemon is the overall look. “The styles are less appealing and the patterns aren’t as pleasing, there is also weird sizing and overall the clothes are less cute [at Athleta],” Rusinski said.
