Students work at new Lifetime location

On December 3rd, 2019, Lifetime Fitness opened its newest flagship location in Southdale mall with the help of four employed BSM students.
Four seniors, Josh Mahoney, Bella Bennett, Faith Niebergall, and Maria Rossman all work together outside of the BSM community at Lifetime’s newest location. Mahoney and Niebergall are both members of the aquatics team, Bennett is a member of kids academy, and Rossman works in the café. “I think it’s super fun that we all get to work together and that a lot of us are in different departments,” Rossman said.
According to Lifetime, they hired around two hundred full and part-time positions for the Southdale location. The company itself is entirely based around the idea of a healthy way of life, which draws many potential employees to its doors. Lifetime is also able to offer its employees competitive pay, a free gym membership, and an opportunity for advancement. “I decided to work at Lifetime because it’s a super nice company and a few of my friends work there. I couldn’t have gotten luckier,” Niebergall said.
Lifetime prides itself on creating a positive work environment, which includes hiring a multitude of high school students. The aquatics team, which consists of swim instructors and lifeguards, only has three employees who are not in high school. The majority of the department is from Washburn High School in Minneapolis, Edina High School, and Benilde-St. Margarets.
For any BSM students who are looking to apply for a job in the near future, Southdale Lifetime is a great employment opportunity. “Yeah [I would recommend it]. I think Lifetime is really good at being professional and preparing you for jobs when you are older, but it’s still fun. You also get a free membership which makes it so much more worth it,” Bennett said.
