Battle of the Chickens
As millions of commuters drive around America, there is a constant need for fast food. Let's be honest, there is no better food to munch on than chicken. This food fits all of the necessities that one might need. The crunch, taste, and sensation of tasting chicken are like no other.

Chick-Fil-A
As your casual high school student, I am here to declare Chick-fil-A as the best place to get your chicken from.
The majority of all Chick-fil-A stores open at 6:30 am so there is a tendency of students eating Chick-fil-A before school in order to start their day with satisfaction. Chick-fil-A serves breakfast in the mornings and you must not forget about the free biscuit they will be happy to give you every Tuesday morning. On the other hand, Raising Cane’s opens at 10 am so, you won’t see anybody eating their chicken in the morning. The most popular Chick-fil-A restaurant for BSM students is located over in the Shoppes at Knollwood which is about an eight-minute drive from our school. If students are thinking about heading over to Cane’s, the nearest restaurant is located over in Dinkytown on the University of Minnesota’s campus. If students want to head over to Cane’s, they will get caught in the Minneapolis traffic ultimately wasting time, money, and gas while Chick-fil-A is right next door.
When people walk into a Cane’s Restaurant, they will see that they only have five options to choose from. The only options that Cane’s offer on their menu are different portions of chicken fingers, and a chicken sandwich. Many will notice that the restaurants are packed with people and a stressful environment with everybody trying to order their food. Eating your chicken there might not be the most enjoyable experience. If there is one thing Chick-fil-A is known for other than their outstanding chicken is there unbelievably nice staff. There is nothing better than hearing “my pleasure” after you say “thank you.” The Chick-fil-A Restaurants are normally calm inside and provide a friendly environment.
Both restaurants are also known for their outstanding sauce. When you receive food at Chick-fil-A, they give you lots of packets of their amazing Chick-fil-A Sauce (and don’t forget, you can ask for more!) But when you eat at Cane’s, they only give you one 3oz cup of their sauce. One thing Cane’s does that Chick-fil-A doesn’t do is charge you more for extra sauce, which adds an extra $0.29 to your total. However, at Chick-fil-A employees can provide customers with four additional packets of sauce for free.
Now, there will be times where you will be in a rush. Although both restaurants have drive-throughs, this is where Chick-fil-A stands out compared to Cane’s. If you are looking for an overall better experience, Chick-fil-A is the place you want to drive to. There are dedicated employees waiting outside to take your orders at most of the stores in the United States. This means that the robot-sounding employee at Cane’s will never live up to the expectations of the dedicated workforce at Chick-fil-A.
In the end, Chick-fil-A reigns over any other competition. There are restaurants in 39/50 states in the U.S. while Cane’s only has restaurants in 23/50 states. Cane’s has around 400 locations comparing to Chick-fil-A’s over 2,200 locations. This ultimately means that at any time, you will find yourself heading into a Chick-fil-A restaurant because it’s more convenient and because of their outstanding chicken.
Cane’s
If you want to eat chicken in the Twin Cities, there are many good fast food chains you can go to. Although somewhere like Chick-fil-a is a great option, I don’t think there is any better place to go for chicken than Raising Cane’s.
Although there are many pros to eating at Cane’s, there are some cons as well. One of the biggest cons of Cane’s is the unfortunate locations throughout the Twin Cities area. Most restaurants are located on the outskirts of the metro, and the closest locations to BSM are the two restaurants on the University of Minnesota Campus. However, it only takes about 15 minutes to the Cane’s in Dinkytown from BSM with good traffic, and the drive is well worth it for some of the best chicken fingers in the state.
Cane’s doesn’t have a very diverse menu, but I’d choose quality over quantity any day. The Box Combo, which comes with four chicken tenders and two sides, is a must-have. The chicken is never dry and always tastes great. Cane’s sauce is delicious and makes the chicken taste even better. A four-tender meal from Cane’s is slightly less than a four-tender meal from Chick-fil-a. Even if you want to order an extra sauce at Cane’s, it’s still cheaper than Chick-fil-a, making up for some of the gas money lost from the drive.
One thing that separates Cane’s from competing restaurants is the sides they offer. Nowhere else can you get a combination of coleslaw and Texas toast. The Texas toast is so good that I usually order another piece, despite the extra cost. Canes also offers lemonade and amazing sweet tea, both great options to drink with your meal.
Overall, Cane’s has more to offer, which is why I believe it is superior to competing restaurants. The food is great, but the sides like the Texas toast and fries are what makes the restaurant better. Plus, going to Cane’s gives you an excuse to visit the University of Minnesota campus.
