Before I go to sleep, I say my bedtime prayers. I go to bed by 10:30 p.m. almost every night—even on weekends. By going to bed early, I make up for the time I lose due to waking up early. That way, I don’t lose productivity by getting less sleep the previous night. Although, no matter how early I go to bed, I’ll feel sleepy if I need to wake up before 8 a.m. on any day. If there are tests or big projects due the next day, I may stay up until midnight to finish studying. Doing this occasionally (once a week) may not alter my productivity by much but if done more often will lead to decreased performance academically and athletically. On days in which we have online school due to a snowstorm, I will not feel tired if I get up before 8 a.m.—what an anomaly!
