The team won their Conference and is now looking to win Sections.

Girls’ volleyball has had great success throughout their regular season, and now the team is ready for Sections. The team is expected to do very well in Sections and is hoping to make a State appearance.

The last time girls’ volleyball made it to State was 13 years ago. “It’s very exciting since it’s been so long since [the team] made it to State. I never pictured our team going to State, and the fact that it might happen is so crazy, and I’m so proud of all of my teammates,” junior captain Anna Shurson said.

In order to get ready for the Section games, the team has been working hard at practice—they have incorporated conditioning into practices to keep up with their tough opponents. “In practices, we incorporated conditioning drills and we incorporated goals in practices to push ourselves to get better,” Shurson said.

They have also pulled up some players from the JV team who were hand-selected by the Varsity coach Phong Luong—including freshman Josie King and sophomore Hailey Hewitson. “I was so excited when I heard I was getting pulled up for Sections, and I think the team can go very far and has good chance of winning State,” Josie King said.

The team won their first Section game against Washburn. The next game will be on Tuesday, October 31 against Robbinsdale Armstrong.
