Kate Berry – Counselor
A guidance counselor’s job is to help students throughout their high school career and push them towards a bright future; this year, BSM welcomes Kate Berry to do just that.
Berry, a St. Louis Park native, became one of the four college and guidance counselors covering students from last names Dr to I. She had previously held a role of youth director at Our Lady of Grace and St. Joseph Parish. “As a youth director I liked working with teens and I wished to pursue my passion in the education field,” Berry said.
Berry went to the University of Minnesota Graduate School to be a college and guidance counselor. She graduated from Our Lady of Grace and, through her relations there, made close connections with members of the BSM community. She extremely grateful for BSM’s warm welcome; she was impressed by BSM’s emphasis on community values. As a new member at BSM, she has plans to approach the students in her own way. Berry has a strong passion for helping students find their own path, and her trait of being unassuming and comfortable, she believes, will benefit her ability. “I really want to help students navigate their lives. I want them to make their own choices,” Berry said.
As her first goal, she hopes to learn all the students in her alphabet and wishes to work with these students in her coming years.
