BSM proved impressive in the freestyle events, as they had a State qualifier in each of the six freestyle events at Section 2A Finals.

After a successful Section 2A Meet on Friday, November 11, five swimmers on the BSM girls’ swim and dive team have advanced to the State A Meet.

Individually, senior captain Madison Semler finished first in the 200 yard freestyle, going 1:57.43, and second in the 500 yard freestyle, going 5:17.83, which will advance her to State  in both events. Senior captain Maria Satre finished third in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.76, and second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 54.13, and will also advance to State in both events.

After these and other successful individual swims, the girls’ 200 yard freestyle relay, consisting of Satre, Semler, and sophomores Malinda Beason and Ava Schieffert, moved on to State by going 1:40.69 and earning third place. In the girls’ 400 freestyle relay, consisting of Satre, Semler, Schieffert, and sophomore Elizabeth Dickey, the team finished second by going 3:38.90, which will also advance them to the State A Meet.

These five girls had excellent swims, and are ready to swim even faster at the State A Meet, which will take place at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, on the campus of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in Minneapolis.  Prelims will be swum on Thursday, November 17 at 12:00pm, while Finals is slated for Friday, November 18 at 12:00pm.  The top 16 swimmers/relays at Prelims will advance to Finals, with the top 8 advancing to the Championship Final and places 9-16 advancing to the Consolation Final.
