The Drama Department presents “The Drowsy Chaperone”

Every spring the BSM Drama Department puts on a musical by the high schoolers. This year, the musical is The Drowsy Chaperone.

The show revolves around the superstition that a groom should not see the bride on his wedding day with perfect wedding gown. In the show, there is a chaperone that is meant to keep the couple from seeing each other. However, this chaperone does not do their job very well and is drunk for the majority of the show. “While all the shenanigans with the chaperone is going on, there is a narrator explaining the show and connecting it to his own life in the background,” sophomore actor Claire Shinners said.

The bride is a Broadway star leaving the stage to marry a man that she has recently met. “I play Janet Vandergraff, the bride, who’s a total diva. She loves to be flamboyant and always wants to be the center of attention. It’s my first time in a big role, but the work leading up to it has been really worth it. It’s family-friendly, hilarious, and personally one of the best shows I’ve ever been in,” sophomore actor Maddie Schafer said.

The show will be held in the Hamburge Theatre on April 28, 29, and 30 at 7 pm and on May 1 at 2 pm.
