Max Johnson, Math

Knight Errant: Where were you before you came to BSM?
Max Johnson: I grew up in Fergus Falls, but I was in Fargo the past three years.

KE: What is your teaching background?
MJ: I graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead and I student-taught in Fargo, and this is my first teaching job.

KE: What specific classes will you teach this year?
MJ: I’m teaching Algebra Plus, Algebra Concepts, and Geometry.

KE: Why do you enjoy teaching?
MJ: Growing up I always liked being in school; I was one of those weird kids that liked school, so I’ve wanted to teach for a while. All of my experience has been in the classroom and I just want to kind of reinforce that.

KE: What aspect of teaching appeals most to you?
MJ: I just like to be able to talk to kids and work in their lives.

KE: How will you contribute to the BSM community?
MJ: That’s hard to say because I’m not coaching or anything like that. I think that I could be a good asset to the community and I like to go to events and attend things and get involved in student’s lives.

KE: What do you look forward to in the new year?
MJ: I’m just excited to start teaching, and this is my first time living in the Twin Cities, and it’s been a lot of fun; I’ve been here for a month.

KE: What is your favorite TV show?
MJ: I would have to say Community. I recommend it.

KE: Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, or Beyoncé?
MJ: Do you watch The Office? In the words of Michael Scott: “I am Beyoncé always.”

KE: Cats or Dogs?
MJ: Dogs.

KE: Favorite childhood memory?
MJ: I got a Nintendo 64 for Christmas one year, and my brothers and I played it for three days straight.
