Downtown transforms into holiday wonderland

To take the place the longstanding Holidazzle Parade, Downtown Minneapolis transforms itself into "Santa's Workshop" for the holiday season.

December 3, 2014

Downtown Minneapolis once again transforms their streets into a winter wonderland for the Christmas season. Continuing the city’s vision of marketing downtown in a new way, the beloved Christmas tradition of the Holidazzle Parade was cancelled this year with the addition of the Holidazzle Village in Minneapolis. The Village––located along Nicollet Mall and Peavey Plaza–– will transform part of the city into the “North Pole” until Christmas Eve with live music, live reindeer, dazzling lights, food, and gifts. From fireworks and dog-sledding to ice skating on Nicollet Mall, the Holidazzle Village works to encompass fun and unique events that draw people to downtown Minneapolis during the Christmas season.

If you want to fully participate in this unique village and the Christmas season, come join with fellow strangers, friends, and

family and immerse yourself in the Christmas spirit. You can venture over to see the live reindeer or take a trip to Santa’s Workshop while in the Holidazzle Village or ride the carousel and shop and eat in the Minneapolis Market. The Village showcases live performers, and people of all ages will start humming along to the Christmas carols begin sung.

Once you get hungry, head over to the Minneapolis Market where there are plenty of food choices for you located in little wooden huts decorated with lights. Christmas cookies, cinnamon roasted nuts, and beverages fill the streets along with an abundance of restaurants lined along the streets of downtown.

Holidazzle Village began on the day after Thanksgiving––November 28––and will continues every Saturday and Sunday through December from 3pm-8pm. If you want the Christmas experience and cannot wait until the weekend, the Minneapolis Market is opened daily from 11am-9pm from November 28 until December 23 and opened 11am-6pm on December 24. Shop.

The Holidazzle Village is free to the public, but the Minneapolis Market costs $3 for a child and $6 for an adult. This is a one time cost, so you can return any weekend at no additional cost.
