For the first time, Benilde-St. Margaret’s is starting off the new school year by raffling off a new Chevy Cruze. Emblazoned with a removable BSM Red Knights sticker and painted a proud BSM red, the car can be found sitting right outside the main entrance to the school, waiting to be won by one lucky BSM supporter

Ticket sales will continue to go on until the raffle on October 2nd. Tickets are ten dollars each, and can be bought from Athletic Director Mr. Jerry Pettinger in the Athletic office. Proceeds go to a BSM sport or activity of the buyer’s choosing. In addition to sales out of the Athletic office, many BSM clubs have taken to selling them at their own events, including football, boys’ soccer, girls’ soccer, tennis, swimming, wrestling, boys’ lacrosse, and girls’ lacrosse. Those sales will directly benefit those activities. Tickets must be purchased with cash or check.

As this is the first time BSM has raffled off a car, there is no precedent for how much money the raffle will raise. “We would like to sell at least 2,000 tickets,” Pettinger said. At ten dollars a ticket, this would grant 20,000 dollars to BSM sports and activities.

Anyone over the age of eighteen is eligible to win, excluding BSM employees and their immediate family members. This means some BSM seniors have the ability to win. The winner will be drawn at half time of the October 2nd home football game against DeLasalle.
