Baseball team falls short to Armstrong in vital section game

The Benilde-St. Margaret’s baseball team made the trek to Siebert Field at the University of Minnesota to take on the Wayzata Trojans in a section playoff showdown. According to junior Connor Day, “Our team played well and with a lot of chemistry. We rebounded well from our loss last week.” The Trojans scored first with one player crossing the plate in the top half of the first inning; the Red Knights answered by scoring two runs in the bottom of the second. BSM senior Michael Kaminski threw a complete game, allowing only two runs over the course of seven innings as well as recording one RBI. Junior Tyler Wyvell along with seniors Keaton Studsrud and Christopher Racchini also contributed to the 7-2 win with one RBI each. The Red Knights faced the Armstrong Falcons later that day.

However, The Red Knight baseball team encountered a tough match against the Armstrong Falcons for the second time in the section tournament, losing a tight game 0-1. The Red Knights struck fast and early scoring one in the top of the first.  Unfortunately, the Falcons responded in full force, scoring three in the bottom of the third. The Falcons continued to pile on the runs, scoring three more in the second and two more in the fourth. “We were plagued by errors the entire game. We could have done a lot of things better, but it is what it is,” said junior pitcher Tyler Wyvell. Red Knight senior Jimmy Cron recorded the loss, and was relieved by junior Tyler Wyvell after 1 ? innings on the mound.
