Twelve speechers fared well at the state tournament
Twelve BSM Speech Team members competed at the state tournament on February 11-12. The tournament was held at Blaine High School. The top three participants in each of the twenty-four categories advanced to state from the individual section tournaments. BSM competed in the 6AA section tournament, held March 19 at Eden Prairie.
Of the eleven entries (one was a duo), two team members placed. Junior Molly Eldevik placed sixth in the Great Speeches category, and junior Parker Breza placed seventh in the Extemporaneous Speaking category.
“It was exciting for me and Parker to break, especially since we’re good friends. I loved being on the stage with him and seeing us both win medals,” said Eldevik.
Even those who did not medal found the state competition a rewarding experience. “Everyone felt very proud of making it to State, as it is not an easy task. Performing our piece at its best in front of many people made state a great experience,” said junior Jacqui Theisen.
