Students take the AMC Math Exam
February 6, 2014
Aspiring math students participated in the American Math Competition exam Tuesday, February 4, cramming into the library for an hour and a half, wracking their minds to remember any recently learned math skills. Students in grades 7-10 took the AMC 10 while students in grades 11-12 took the AMC 12. The test consists of 25 questions where one receives 6 points for getting the question right, 1.5 points for leaving a question blank, and 0 points for getting it wrong.
Students that sign up for the AMC soon realize that this exam is no easy task. “The questions start easy and progressively get harder, and you don’t even get to use a calculator,” junior Matt Arnason said.
