Football team receives two-seed for sections
After finishing the regular season with a 6-2 record and capturing the program’s first conference title since 2004, the Benilde-St. Margaret’s football team was awarded the number-two seed for the Section 6AAAA playoffs.
The Red Knights have not won their section since 2006 and feel confident that this team has the potential to break that trend. “We have to come out as we always do and take care of business” senior captain Jeremy Pastir said.
The Red Knights have been led by their explosive offense which has averaged 36.4 points per game and only conceding 23.9 points per game. Senior quarterback Keaton Studsrud has accounted for 25 touchdowns on the season and the defense has three players with over 50 tackles.
Last season, the Red Knights were defeated by DeLaSalle 26-24 in the section semifinal and looking to avenge that defeat. The Red Knights’ first section game will be on Saturday, October 26 at 7 p.m. when they host winner of St. Anthony versus Blake.
