The team played Fridley, amidst cold weather and rain.

After becoming the seventh football team in Benilde-St. Margaret’s history to start the season 3-0, the Red Knights were unable to remain undefeated as the Fridley Tigers beat the Red Knights 58-39.

Both teams played an even first half with Fridley taking a 22-21 lead into halftime with the difference being a two-point conversion. The second half was once again an offensive display from both teams, but in the end, the Red Knights came up short on their final drive and the Tigers added two more touchdowns to put the final score at 58-39.

For the Red Knights, Keaton Studsrud led the offense with three rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown and running back Austin Robertson adding two rushing scores as well. Fridley’s Nick Rathke threw for four touchdowns and running back Darius Mulbah rushed for over 200 yards and had three touchdowns.

The Red Knights fall to 3-1 on the season and will face section-rival DeLaSalle in a rematch of last year’s section semifinal where the Islanders defeated the Red Knights 26-24.
