On Thursday May 24th at 5:00 pm, the Benilde-St. Margaret’s girls softball team played their first sections game against Edina at Richfield Middle School. After a long season with many cancellations due to the weather, the team lost 3-4. Three players knocked in runs including junior Abbey Miller, sophomore Maddie Houlihan, and sophomore Lizzie Huether. Lily Johnson pitched the entire game for the Red Knights. The team scored their first run on a hit in the second inning by Abbey Miller. In total, the team received seven hits from Miller, Houlihan, and Huether. Junior captain Molly Kopp described how she felt about the team’s defeat. “We definitely did our best on the field, and we had a lot of great highlights. We are all very proud of our season and team”, said Kopp.
