Jan Jenkins, author of “Footprints of Courage” and parent of a 2002 college homicide victim, shared her stories and advice to seniors during second hour on Wednesday, April 17. Presenting her touching story in the Chapel, seniors learned her message of “Got your back,” demonstrating a real life example of her son, a senior in college at the University of Minnesota, who went missing and was found four months later in the Mississippi River. For the past decade, after being featured on the Today Show and NBC Dateline, Jenkins has been educating and motivating students around the nation to take that action of sticking together with friends and loved ones so they can be granted with the gift of life. “I have had feedback from students whose lives I have saved. If I didn’t feel like I was making a difference then I don’t think I would keep it up, but to save just one life, it’s worth it,” Jenkins said.
