Red Knights dominate Panthers in much needed win

Andrew Birkeland, Staff Writer

After a heartbreaking loss to the Cooper Hawks, the Red Knights ended their eight-game losing streak with an impressive 61-39 victory over Spring Lake Park. Neither team shot well during the first half, but the Red Knight’s ability to limit turnovers against the Panthers’ press helped give them a 22-18 halftime lead. The second half was a different story with the Red Knights opening the game up and taking a 20-point leading into the final minutes. The Red Knights were able to hold on and win 61-39, snapping the losing streak. The Red Knights were led by a balanced attack with Nick Birney, Chris Bell, and Sam Lynch all reaching double-figures and junior Jack Hathaway adding nine points. The team has been playing some of their best basketball lately and will celebrate Senior Night on Tuesday when Columbia Heights comes to the Haben Center.
