In one of the most heated rivalries in the North Suburban Conference, the Benilde-St. Margaret’s Red Knights lost to the St. Louis Park Orioles 70-61. The Red Knights came into the game on a two game losing streak, but both games were tough losses decided in the final minutes. The Red Knights started the game hot with junior Nick Birney nailing five three-pointers in the first few minutes, and the Red Knights carried that momentum throughout the half. Even though they trailed by four at the half, the team played one of their best halves of basketball all year. The momentum carried over to the second half as both teams exchanged the lead multiple times. However, in the final minutes turnovers proved to be costly for the Red Knights. The Orioles executed off of the miscues and built an insurmountable lead, winning the game. Junior Nick Birney led the Red Knights with a season-high 23 points, including six three-pointers.
