After being blown-out 71-16 to DeLaSalle, the boys’ basketball team rebounded with a thrilling 49-47 win over Fridley. The defenses controlled the first half and the Red Knights took a 19-18 lead going into halftime. The pace picked up in the second half, with both teams battling for the lead. With under 30 seconds to play, junior Sam Lynch stole the ball and went in for an uncontested layup, giving the Red Knights a one-point lead. After Chris Bell converted a free-throw and a desperation heave by Fridley fell short, the Red Knights pulled off the victory. Juniors Nick Birney and Sam Lynch reached double-digits for the Red Knights and sophomore Jayson Edwards scored eight points in the second half.
