The Red Knights boy’s basketball team started the 2012-2013 season with a home game against section 6AAA rival Richfield. Both teams played an equal first half, but the Spartans took a 30-23 lead at halftime. The Red Knights looked to mount a comeback in the second half, but the Spartans extended the lead to double-digits and never looked back, winning 63-44. Sophomore guard Jayson Edwards led the Red Knights with 16 points and senior Sam Hafermann had eight points; however, the leading scorer was Richfield senior forward Deshawn Jones with 19 points. The Red Knights will look to get a win when they travel to Academy of Holy Angels on Friday, Dec. 7.
