The Red Knights looked past an early scare to take down the Breck Mustangs 7-1 in the Cake Eater tournament final. The Mustangs jumped out to a quick lead on a redirection by sophomore forward Leah Shwartzman only 23 seconds into the game. The Red Knights used that as motivation to dominate the rest of the game, only giving up 11 more shots. Senior forward Anne Arnason tied the game at one just four minutes after the Breck goal. Junior forward Caitlin Reilly broke the tie late in the first period with a dazzling goal as she wove through the defense before firing the puck right below the crossbar. In the second period, junior forward Kelly Pannek broke out out of her slow start and scored her first two goals of the season. Senior defenseman Lexi Press scored her first goal of the year just minutes after Reilly put in her second of the game. Senior Bailey Forcier had the lone goal in the third period to cap off a dominant victory.

Great story, Thomas. The paper wasn’t of any help this morning.
I really want to encourage Red Knights to support all of the winter sports. There are some super kids with outstanding athletic abilities playing at a very high level. Even if you don’t know anything about the sport, you will enjoy the energy and spirit of classmates.
Go Red Knights!
