With their teammate Jack Jablonski watching from the stands, the boys’ hockey team beat Holy Family 7-0 in their quarterfinal game of the section 6AA tournament on Thursday, Feb. 23. Jablonski, who was back at the St. Louis Park Rec Center for the first time since the hit that left him paralyzed on Dec. 30, surprised his teammates at the arena before the game.
On the ice, the line of junior forwards Grant Besse, Dan Labosky, and Tj Moore lit up the score board. Besse scored four goals and added two assists, and Labosky and Moore each had a goal and three assists each.
The biggest news related to BSM’s “Trek to the X,”,however, didn’t even happen at the Rec Center. Seventh-seeded Robbinsdale Armstrong upset third-seeded Eden Prairie 2-1 Thursday night. The Red Knights will take on the Falcons Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 at the Bloomington Ice Garden. Playing against Armstrong, as opposed to the defending state champions, drastically increases BSM’s chances at breaking through to the section finals for the first time since 2008.
