Today, the boys’ soccer team takes on the undefeated, 2010 State Champions, Prairie Seeds Academy (PSA) Lycans in the State title game in the metrodome. These two dominant soccer teams have swapped between first and second rank all season, but the state championship will be the first time these teams will meet on the field.
The Lycans have two notable attackers, Adama Keita and Carlos Boquin, who have nearly 90 points between. They have created most of the plays for the Lycans this year, but if the Red Knight defense can prevent those players from turning with the ball, their affect will be greatly diminished.
Despite their dominant offense and undefeated season, the PSA defense is uncoordinated and unorganized. In their State semifinal game against Rochester Lourdes, the Lourdes attackers were left unmarked and uncontested during counterattacks.
If the Knights can manage to look beyond the hype surrounding this dominant soccer team and score the first goal, they can turn the Lycans against each other. When they PSA players’ tempers flare, they loose their composure and start making stupid mistakes. If the Red Knights can exploit this weakness, they can take control of the game.
