Word Lens Eliminates the Language Barrier

Word Lens is an application that takes pictures or video of any written Spanish words and instantly translates them into English. The app is not always completely accurate, but the translations are quick and easy to use.

The app was launched late last year by Quest Visual, an electronics research company. It got underwhelming reviews but still managed to win an award for “Best App Idea” from The New York Times.

Word Lens is five dollars to download, but currently only features English-to-Spanish translations. While the software is useful to have, the steep price of adding new dialects combined with the limited scope of the program make Word Lens an app that can be easily passed over.
