The boys’ baseball team defeated Irondale 7-6 on May 19, getting them one step closer to obtaining the title of conference champions. The win ties the Red Knights with Totino-Grace and Robbinsdale Cooper for first place in the conference. Junior Robby Sutherland walked in the second inning with the bases loaded, giving BSM a 1-0 lead. Irondale hit a three-run home run in the top of the third inning, but in response, junior Joe Melles was driven home by junior Bobby Papetti’s double in the bottom of the third. Sophomore Spencer Shaver hit a three-run home run of his own. Irondale had two more home runs throughout the game, but sophomore Grant Besse eventually hit junior Scott Quinby home for what became the winning run.
