Not many seniors can claim varsity participation in multiple sports, but Sara Taffe has achieved varsity status in three different sports, volleyball, hockey, and lacrosse, as a sophomore.

Taffe originally participated in all three sports at Maple Grove Junior High, a school providing grades up until ninth grade, bringing Taffe to Benilde-St. Margaret’s as a sophomore. Though she originally planned to pursue these three sports at Osseo Senior High, Taffe believes the move to BSM has been a wise decision. “In the fall my parents decided that they wanted me to transfer to BSM because it was a really good school and everyone they knew hedre loved it,” said Taffe.

She began her successful sports season in the fall when she participated on the varsity volleyball team as the middle hitter. Though achieving a successful season, Taffe believes this sport is her greatest challenge. “The hardest sport for me was, and still is, volleyball. This was only my third year playing and there are so many complex parts that I’m still learning,” said Taffe.

Taffe continued to showcase her talent in the winter sports season by joining the girls’ varsity hockey team. Taffe helped the team achieve an extraordinary season, reaching an overall record of 21-2-1, by playing on the defensive line. “Hockey was a blast because our team was so close and we had so much fun together,” said Taffe.

Aiming her goals past high school, Taffe hopes to continue her hockey career into college. “I’ve been playing [hockey] for so long [and] I hope to play at the college level when I graduate,” said Taffe.

Taffe is currently participating on the girls’ varsity lacrosse team. Though the season has just gotten underway, she is positive of the potential the team has in its upcoming season. “I can already tell it’s going to be just as fun as hockey and volleyball,” said Taffe.

Overall, Taffe’s experience has helped her grow as a team player on the court, rink, and even the field. “I think that playing at BSM has really helped me in this past year a ton. I’ve had great coaches all year and the girls are all really good players which has driven me to compete not only in games, but practices as well,” said Taffe.
