The girls’ varsity hockey team dominated Buffalo last Friday for their first win of the season. Losing a heartbreaker in the final seconds in their first game of the season against Edina, the second ranked team in the state, the girls rallied back against the Bison. After keeping possession of the puck for the first few minutes, freshman Brittany Wheeler scored the first goal that eventually led the girls to a win with a final score of 4-0. Wheeler continued to be a major influence over the Buffalo Bison, scoring two more goals to clinch a hat-trick. The fourth and final goal, scored by freshman Kaylee Druk and assisted by senior captain Jordyn Burns, proved that this young, very talented varsity team has the potential to dominate their section. Backing up the Red Knights in the net, senior goalie Tiana Press saved a total of 15 shots and earned a well-deserved shut-out.
