Filled with adulterous affairs, families and nations torn apart by sibling rivalries, and beheadings, The Other Boleyn Girl brings the tale of English King Henry VIII and his infamous second wife Anne Boleyn to life in this melodramatic film. Telling the tale and exposing the never-ending conflict between Anne and Mary Boleyn, played by Natalie Portman and Scarlet Johansson, this film provides entertainment and drama as the sisters fight for the King’s affection, yet lacks substance to make this film truly powerful. However, the cinematography and set bring the audience to the 16th century, and its excellent costume design proves effective to bring history to life.
