Boy’s hockey holds off underrated Burnsville

In their first test of the year, the boy’s hockey team held off Burnsville on December 5, 2013 in what appeared to be a very evenly matched, and anticipated game. The Red Knights struck first 5 minutes into the game, with Burnsville countering with 5 minutes left in the first period. As was the case against Mounds View, BSM’s offense erupted in the second period, scoring 3 unanswered goals, thus creating some breathing room with the score at 4-1. However,
Burnsville was not about to let that lead influence them, answering with 2 goals just before the end of the second period. Mark Kaske completed the hat trick when he struck again in the 3rd period, making the score 5-3 and put the game just out reach for Burnsville who could only muster one more goal before Benilde escaped with the win. “[Looking forward against Hill Murray we just need to execute] simple things – finishing checks, solid D-zone, quick transition game, hard forecheck – then the other things —goals— will fall into place,” said junior Mark Kaske.
