Although the BSM girls’ tennis team has gone through many changes over this past year, the team is hoping to have a very successful season. With two new coaches, and a returning coach stepping in as the new head coach, practices and matches are underway and the girls are already working hard. They have been training all summer through different camps and captains’ practices run by senior captains Natalie Kroll and Katie Hansen. Now that the season has started, the girls practice everyday after school from 3:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon at Aquilla Park in St. Louis Park.

This year the girls’ goal is to win their Conference. “We will do our best but we have some tough competition. We have a pretty mixed schedule, so matches will either be very easy or very difficult,” Kroll said. The team is off to a good start but they are hoping to keep improving throughout the season. “We just need to work on consistency,” Hansen said.

Both the captains have high hopes for the upcoming season and the team knows that to achieve their goals they must work together. “Everyone needs to step up and do their part in order for us to have a successful season,” Hansen said. The team lost many players from the previous season, so the team has five new players on the varsity team that will be key to their success. With an influx of new players along with younger players, the captains are working on rebuilding their doubles teams and strengthening their team chemistry.

So far, the team has a record of 4-3 and is hoping to keep a winning record heading into the Sections Tournament, which will begin in October.
