The schools in the Metro West Conference – Chanhassen, Chaska, Bloomington-Jefferson, Bloomington-Kennedy, Cooper, Saint Louis Park, and Richfield – all sent juniors and seniors who are or will become sports captains this year to BSM on Tuesday, November 4, to learn about how to become effective leaders. Although BSM has hosted this event in the past, this was the first year that BSM held the event for schools in its new Metro West Conference. The BSM representatives participated in an all day events including listening to motivational speakers and watching films. Kathy Jacobson, senior high attendance supervisor, regards the event as a way for captains to learn skills that will help them on and off the field.  “Each school in our conference sends captains to listen to motivational speakers talking about what it means to be captain- not only being a leader, but also about good sportsmanship,” Jacobson said.
