BSM sports open for young Red Knights

Morgan Matson, Staff Writer

Dance, football and wrestling are no longer only for students enrolled at Benilde-St. Margaret’s high school. Starting this year, three new teams were introduced for pre-teens: the Junior Knightettes Dance Team, Mighty Knights Wrestling Club, and BSM Flag Football. The junior dance team is open to girls in grades 6-8 who practice six days a week. They’ll gain extra practice in addition to performing at BSM sporting events. The junior wrestling club is open to kindergarten through eighth grade stu-
dents. The club practices twice a week and participates in one tournament. The BSM flag football team, was started by science teacher Mr. John Porisch. Fifth through eighth graders can join the team, practicing Saturday mornings. The first hour teaches the fundamental components of football––how to throw, kick, punt, and more. The second hour puts their skills to the tests with scrimmages and home games.
