Boys’ hockey falls 2-1 to section rival Wayzata

This date was marked in red (no pun-intended) on every seniors’ calendar. A rematch with the team that more or less embarrassed them amidst an enormous crowd in the ‘Ucci, and dashed expectations of back-to-back trips to the X. However, this year brought a young squad to square off against an experienced Wayzata team; a new goalie, a new set of forwards, and hopefully, the absence of stress due to smaller expectations.
However the rematch with Wayzata wasn’t a show-off of emotion and enormity, but of speed and extremely fast paced Hockey. Both teams showed tremendous poise, with few penalties (which speaks volumes considering the past few meetings), and stout defense when looking at the high number of shots, and the low score of the game, which was 2-1 Wayzata.
This will be the section rival yet again come February, and though BSM lost, the Boy’s know they can play with the best, with Wayzata being currently ranked #2, just behind #1 ranked Edina.
