Boys’ swim team looks to repeat past success

With roughly twenty swimmers, six of which are seniors, the boys’ swim team expects a successful season this year. Last year, the team had three state qualifiers: seniors Jack McGinn, Parker Johnson, and Scott Quinby, who are expected to qualify again this year.

After losing only one senior last year, the team doesn’t expect much of an impact due to the many talented remaining swimmers. This years’ seniors include Daniel and Eric Kretsch, McGinn, Johnson, Will Satre, and Scott Quinby. “I don’t feel that the loss will impact our team that much because of all the young talent we have gained this year from the freshmen class,” said Satre, co-captain of the team along with Daniel and Eric Kretsch

Last year, the Red Knights had a record of 3-1-2, and this year they expect even more improvement. The toughest teams they have to face are St. Louis Park, who they tied with last year, and Chisago Lakes, the only team the Red Knights lost to. “Our goal this year is to have an undefeated season,” said Kretsch.

Swimmers to watch throughout the season are McGinn, Johnson, and Quinby. The three of them placed  well in the state tournament last year and are expected to appear again. “Jack is our best swimmer overall, where as Parker is our best backstroker, which helps us win a lot of meets,” said Kretsch.
