Undoubtedly the rap album of the year, “Take Care” leaked nine days before the original release of Nov.15 and has been a point of musical interest since last March.

Drake, who formerly played Jimmy on Degrassi, the controversial Canadian all teen show, has accumulated one of the strongest fan followings in the modern music industry. His style, which has a Jay-Z bravado and a Kanye West type of creativity, has had all types of music lover surprised by his “boo-hoo lovey-dovey” style.

The album features ballads to fit anyone’s mood. From arrogance to self-pity to sadness, the album provides songs that have the ability to correspond with almost any human disposition.

When you have two famous musicians as parents, your genetics are bound to carry some sort of musical talent. The brother duo of Sam and Django Stewart (sons of Siobhan Fahey of Bananarama and Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics) happened to be born with loads of it.

“Nightmare and the Cat” just released their self-titled EP, and it’s gaining steam. With Django’s distinct and poignant voice, coupled with his brother’s intense guitar riffs, “Nightmare and the Cat” creates a different, yet familiar sound, compelling you to sing along.

The first EP featured five songs all unique with sounds of the Smiths, David Bowie, and even some modern Brit bands, like The Kooks. The first song, “Sarah Beth,” starts with haunting melody and a story of loss and love, the proverbial one who got away.

Graham Colton’s first release in the four years since “Here Right Now,” which featured the hit “Best Days,” has been a long time coming, but “Pacific Coast Eyes” was worth the wait.

“PCE” has a few pounding songs, but it resembles the mellow sound of 2007’s “Here Right Now” more closely than the energized rock of 2004’s “Drive.”

Colton’s first full album made outside a studio contract since his 2002 self-release, “PCE” is filled with small imperfections as a result of a garage band style recording process. These small flaws don’t distract the listener, but grant the album a certain honesty that some of his other releases have lacked.

The Antlers, after releasing their career defining “Hospice,” follow it up with the neurotic “Burst Apart.” The record is filled with quiet, unassuming, and modest songs, a sharp contrast to the booming, attention-grabbing sound of the debut.

Opener “I Don’t Want Love” brings the listener into the atmospheric world of “Burst Apart.” After the first high pitched keyboard note, a soft guitar strum plummets into front man Peter Silberman’s tale of straying away from any human connection. However, the lyrics show a new found maturity in songwriting for Silberman; he is no longer moping about his emotional baggage, but instead, coming to terms with it.

Since the early 90’s the Foo Fighters have been producing spectacular records, after waiting four years to release their latest record, “Wasting Light” finally hit stores on April 12, 2011, marking the return of a previous Foo Fighters member, Pat Smear.

Grohl is the power source of the Foo Fighters––having previous drummed for Nirvana––he now takes over by providing vocals, guitars, drums, and piano for the band. But the members still make the bands sound come alive, Nate Mendel’s propulsive bass,Taylor Hawkins intense drum beats and Chris Shifflet’s impressive guitar solos compliment Grohl’s virtuosity.

Recorded in Dave Grohls garage, “Wasting Light” combines all of the factors that make a Foo Fighter album complete, catchy lyrics, pop-rock songs and wannabe amazing guitar solo’s, the Foo Fighters are definitely not wasting their talent on this record.
